Bar Harbor

What a beautiful weekend! Our weather was perfect and we had an amazing time with the Tobeys. If you live in New England or are visiting the area then you need to make Bar Harbor one of your stops. It was by far our favorite weekend getaway.

We pulled into Bar Harbor on Friday with just enough time to hit the pool then fetch a tasty dinner at a restaurant on the water and browse the shops in town. Saturday morning the kids hit the pool in the morning with the dads while Tab and I got pedicures at the Spa. We then headed up to Acadia National Park to see a bit of the scenery and have lunch at the Jordan Pond House. Talk about breath taking views. The restaurant has indoor seating, although on a day like Saturday I'm unsure why anyone would choose to sit inside. You'll see just how picturesque the landscape was in a picture below. After lunch we joined Diver Ed - another must see in Bar Harbor - on a diving cruise (he does the diving in the 39 degree water and takes a camera along to show you what he finds.) He then brings up a collection of starfish, lobsters, crabs, and some other creatures for all of the kids - and adults if you'd like - to pick up and investigate. Grady was kissing sea creatures left and right and thoroughly enjoyed himself. Conner had fun but wasn't as keen on the picking up part. The rest of the day was spent at the pool, enjoying the town, watching the sun set over the Acadia mountains, and visiting with Tab and Selim after the kiddos fell asleep.

Sunday we hit the park for a hike to Thunder Hole - a ravine where the waves crash and it sounds like thunder. We also went to Sand Beach but the water was frigid so we didn't last too long. All in all it was a great time and we'll definitely head back to Bar Harbor again.

Hope everyone has a nice holiday today. Take care!

Oh yeah, I've been meaning to send out a congrats to Betsy and Pete - and Jake, the new big brother - on the birth of Josh. He is absolutely adorable and we are so happy for the Tseronises.

Update

Conner and Grady goofing around.

Yep...that's me and Newt...he was signing his most recent book, Pearl Harbor, at the Manchester Wal-Mart this afternoon.
So, I've been told that "Crocs All Around" is boring and I need to update.

Let's see...

Mother's Day 2007 - We spent the day at Canobie Lake Park (small amusement park about 25 minutes away) with some friends. It was a gorgeous day and the kids had a great time. Best part, I didn't need to plan a thing. Also, my boys got me a beautiful Vera Bradley duffle bag that I cannot wait to use this weekend on our trip to Bar Harbor. Each year we take a trip with our old neighbors, and great friends, the Tobeys. This one is a bit postponed as we didn't get anything accomplished in the fall, so it's a spring trip up to Maine.

Post Mother's Day - Things have been busy around here. Shawn has been traveling quite a bit and I've been keeping busy with the boys. Conner and Grady are both taking swim lessons and Conner has Tae Kwon Do twice a week. The gym continues to keep me busy with scheduling and the general day to day happenings of the childcare rooms.
Other than the above, life has been moving at a manageable pace. With Conner in kindergarten it's not quite as easy to pick up and go away as much as we would like, so we've been enjoying spending time with friends and working around the house. Shawn has been working like crazy outside on the flower beds - they were out of control and needed quite a bit of TLC. I can't say we are totally done but they look 100% better and are nearing completion. (I had 6 yards of mulch delivered last week but I think I should have ordered 10.)
Take care and have a great week.
